- • STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. . OF NEOIN, Jan. d Tim Mun G. J'. Anderson (Alinister 1 ol> Minos nml Labour) reached 1 Dunedin this morning from Gore. In. the course, of an interview with a “Star” reporter, he said that .it was hoped when the session resumed to put the now Shop Hours' Bill through. Ijt was also hoped to amend the Conciliar tion and Arbitration 'Act, and further in amend legislation relating to the renting and possession of houses. Another important amendment would be that of the Coal Mines Act, which laid become necessary by recent events. Referring to the visit to his electorate, the .Minister said that the Southland district was looking very well, i There was a. great growth of grass everywhere and although the milk cheques would be less than for the last I few years, there was every prospect of tilings turning out satisfactorily. The I future, he added, all depended on the! prices obtained for produce. Up to | t‘ c present the position had turned out well. The .Minister mentioned that he attended a meeting of farmers at Gore, mid addressed them»on the compulsory meat pool. A resolution was unanimously carried approving of the principle. Meetings of a like kind had also at other places, and in the western districts of Southland.
