St Mary’s Fair and Sale of Work
The functions in the Drill Hall in aid of St Mary’s Building Fund was continued on Saturday afternoon and evening and was well patronised throughout, the stall-holders doing a lucrative business. On Monday the promoters decided to open in the afternoon and were rewarded with a good attendance, the Bazaar continued well into the night with good results. The following prizes in tlie several competitions were announced : —Table centre, Miss A. Daly; paintings, Mr Glover. Kuril; satin cushion. Mrs do l.ore; pyjamas, Mr W. Breeze; box sundries, Mr Mclntyre; box sundries, Mrs Cain; box strawberries. Miss M. Ward; camisole, Miss M. Manznni; blouse. Miss Daly; satchel. Miss C. Fox; silk frock. Mrs E. 11. Nigthinga.le. In the doll competition the following were the winners: -Irish Doll, Miss
O’Sullivan, Auckland; Maori doll. Miss Stella Herring, Hokitika; French doll, Mr Bain. Hokitika; English doll. Mrs Trving. Hokitika; Scotch doll. Miss Nola Newlands, Grey mouth. In addition to the various workers already announced the following are associated with the several stalls:— Unique.—Mesdnmes Rouse. Devaney, and Jacobs. Success. Mesdnmes Stevens. Burger. Misses Stuart and Stevens. Produce. ’Misses Daly and Foster. Victory. Mrs Diedriili. Misses Korte gast. Pun-ell, Mnnzoni and Condon. Refreshments. -Mesdnmes A. The musical portion of the evening’s programme consisted of an overture by | Miss Reid. song.
