AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z. CABLE ASSOCIIfTIbt. A POLITICAL IMPASSE. (Received This Day at 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 13. It is understood that the Government have failed to secure a Speaker from the Opposition. An impasse is expected to-day when the Assembly meets. A general election is believed will be the outcome.
Mr Dooley had a lengthy interview with the Governor who refused a reel nest to prorogue Parliament for a month. It is stated the leadership of the Labor Party, as well as the fate of Government is involved. Cabinet is considering the question of Mr Dooley’s appointment to the Agont Generalship.
