WK1.1.l NtiTON, Nov. 22 At the Magistrate’s Court, Brie Bandolph Chainherlain was committed to the SuimMite Court for trial on a charge of arson. The police said that accused' had been keeping a greengrocer’s shop at Kilbirnie, and found some diHieulty in making the business pay in face of Chinese opposition. It was alleged that lie purchased a tin of kerosene, and early the following morning the shop of iiis Chinese rivals was found to lie on lire. When the lire brigade arrived, they found the dour ol the shop saturated with kerosene. Accused, it was stated, made a statement to the police that he set fire to the shop, as In- was unable to compete with the low prices of the Chine-e, and devised this means of disposing ot his rival.
