Miss Proven, an actress, a participant in the Arbncklc party, testified to Miss llappe’s shrieks and declarations that: —“He hurt me, I’m dying,” and that Arbncklc snid to llappe : “Shut up. ii;r r will throw you out of the window" and applied ice. Arbncklc displayed the greatest nervousness and avoided the eyes of the witness, who gave details of the party. The State called Doctor Castle, who previously had not figured in the case. He stated he visited Nappe a moment before she died, and found a bruise on the right arm. 'l'll,, defence, who subjected Miss Prevons to a gruelling cross-examination, <lid not ask Castle a single question. Prevon’s previous testimony was considerably weakened when under crossexamination. She admitted she had been placed for two months in custody bv the State, against her will, and she bad been threatened with gaol if she did not sign a certain statement. She admitted that her original statements to tlu* Grand' Jury were confused. Mrs Harvejec, housekeeper for Miss Nappe, testified that last Juno Ifcippe was affiliated with an abscess on an injured organ, and her doctor had advised an operation. A janitor named Normaiul, testified that Arbuckle two years ago offered him a brilio if he would surrender the keys to Nap|>e’s room in the cinema, studio. Arbuckle had said lie wished to play a practical joke. (Neceived This Pav at 10-15 a.in.) NEW YOKE. November 22. The Arbuckle trial was continued at Salt Francisco. Alice Hlnke, cabaret dancer, who attended the Arbuckle party, gave evidence and was cross-examined on statements she made at the time of ArInickle’s arrest, tainilnr to those Provens made yesterday. Joseph Nidoaux. a physical culture trainer testified that he certified treated Kapil,, for two months in 1012 for excessive weight, and said she was in good health and mere muscular than the average w.oman. NEW YORK, Nov. 22. At the Arbucklo’s trial .Josephine Keza. a chambermaid at St. Francis Hotel, said she listened outside Arbttokl’s room during the party . and heard a woman scream: “Oh. mv God no, no,” and a limn say: "Aw, shut up”.
