AUSTKA LUN AND N'.Z. C.VPI.E ASSOCIATION GERMAN CRIMINAL ESCAPES. BERLIN, Nov. 18. Boldt, who was sentenced early in July to four years’ imprisonment oh a charge of murder in connection with the sinking of the hospital ship “Clandoverv Castle,” has escaped from prison.
RAISING MONEY. BERLIN, November 19. In Bavnroa there is a new and strange piece of legislation. It proposes that a prisoner sentenced to a short term shall bo allowed to pay 30,000 marks, instead of serving a month in gaol, thus saving the State the cost of their keep. Poor people who are fined will be allowed to substitute" work for the State in place of the fine.
