The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Council agreed to the amendment to the Local Bodies Loans Act which was received from the House of Representatives. The Council adjourned at 1.15 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The Orchard Tax Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor’s Message and read a first time. An amendment to tho Local Bodies Loans A-f was also introduced by G«v-enmi-’s Message and passed through all Mages, as a matter of urgency. The amendment proceeds that the Government guarantee to local body loans, should apply to portion of the loan as well as to the whole of it. lion Downie Stewart corrected a statement made in the press that tlip Racing Commission cost £IB,OOO. As a matter of fact the cost would not exceed £4,400, and eventually he 1«lieved. the Commission's report would tie worth the money spent on it. The House rose at 5.30 p.m. till 2.30 n.nt. on Tuesday.
