According to an unconfirmed report, the losses among Knrlist- troops in the battle of Komorn amounted to several hundred killed and a thousand wounded. Karl himself had a difficulty in escaping capture after the battle. It is stated he attempted to arrange _ nn armstiee. This was refused, except under conditions laid down by the Government. KAtiL’S COUP FAILS. (Received This Ray at. 8 a.m.) VIENNA, October 24. Karl’s troops are practically encircled and many captured. The Hungarian Government announced that there was no further likelihood of military action, as Karl is without the prospect of strengthening his forces. Government demanded Karl’s unconditional surrender and internment in Hungary, pending the decision of the Allies, and final abdication on behalf of himself and son; also the Court martialling of his military and political adviseis. KART. ARRESTED. VIENNA. Oct. 25. The Ex-Empress Zita has been arrest rd with Emperor Karh - NEW YORK. Oct. 20. ' (Received This Day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON. October 25. The “Evening News” says the tines-’ tion of the maintenance of Ex-Emperor Karl is providing !l pretty diplomatic problem. It is believed lie is practically penniless. The Allies are determined not to make him any -provision, , while a suggestion that tho small ex-Aiistro-Hungarfan States provide for him as all inducement to keep away from them, has received no support. He is faced with deportation without aiietliiate means of subsistence.
KARLIST ARMY RETREATS. (Received This Day at 12.25 p.m.) BUDAPEST, Octolier 25. Tin- Karlist army, after losing half of its effectives retreated in .he direction of Tatoi. Peasants destroyed the railway thither, compelling the army to abandon tlieir transport trains of provisions. The Ministers, Gratz and Roliovski wore captured. KARL'S BEQUEST. BERNE, October 25. It is stated Karl left a letter faith# Swiss Federal Council asking it to take charge of his children, in the event of his defeat, which he declared he did ndt intend to survive.
