They argue that if the min ixrity interests have no official repro sentation they i-an only he exnected t< desire the more publicity. The question of the partition of Ire land will have almost first place on thi agenda and for the Sinn Fein delegate it is the core of the problem. With out understanding on this point both sides realise ft is merely wants of time making definite plans for th future. If the conference survives thi crucial moment the Premier may b able to carry the outlines of a; settle ment to Washington. The “Irish Times” asks whether th, conference intends to summon exper witnesses, and whether the various Te ligimis, education and commercial in forests have been asked to prepay their eases. The newspaper adds: White nobod desires that the conference should pul lish daily transactions the public hav th© right to ask for assurance! that th programme should contemplate scrupi lous regard for every interest. POPE PLEASED. LONDON, Oct. 20. The Pope has sent a message to Kin George rejoicing at the resumption < tht Irish negotiations. Mr Pollock, the Ulster Finance Mil ister, speaking in Belfast, said that tl Northerners of l Ister could make known to all the world that! any al tempt to reduce the power of thei Ulster Parliament would be resented t the last ditch. The controj|ers of Sin Fein should learn once and for all the force would be met with force.
