AN OPEN LETTER.

TO THE YOUNG MEN OF THE TOWN. Lads.—Of late there have been many acts of petty vandalism and wanton destruction which are not creditable to tin place. There has also been ti e disliurement of the A\ estland Pioneer s Memorial liv hanging objects from the outstretched arm.' This silly practice is not a joke. It is a lack of respect to the worth of vonr fathers who made this place what it is. The culprits no doubt aiv a thoughtless lew returning home .from a night out who indulge in these senseless jokes. Now, lads, it is up to yon to help create a better atmosphere among the young men of tbe town. See that public property is respected, that objects of public interest in which the townspeople take a pride are not wantonly violated, as has t een customary of late. Il the young men of the town care to assert themselves in the proper spirit these objectionable acts ea.it be suppressed. This .s art rppeal then, to von all to join and associate yourself not only in discrediting such acts, hut in preventing them, and whore they occur within your knowledge to notify the authorities and allow the law to take its course. Take an interest in your town—which is your home and in all fhat is associated with it, and see that nothing is done to mar its good name. Take this interested spirit in the welfare of theplace, and all w ill he well.

Yours, etc., D. J. EVANS
