DOMINION ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, August 23. The annual report of the Dominion. Bowling Association states there aie seventeen centres in the Dominion, controlling 238 clubs. Last year there wore 229 clubs, witb a membership of 12,94). This vear nine new clubs have been added to the list, and the total membership has increased to 13,301, showing that tlie game is more than maintaining its popularity in the Dominion. Mining the year «- circular question hst was issued to centres for the purpose of showing clearly the attitude of the centres towards the various matters put before them. Tlie voting on the question is as follows: (1) Tournament system—Previous system 159. 1921 system 118. neither 119. . . „ (2) Number of competitions—or singles, pairs, and rinks 214. rinks only 13 rinks and pairs 27, singles and rinks 13. . (3) Order of play- -Rinks, pairs, and singles 10. singles, pairs and rinks 201, neither 130. Note—No votes were given in favour of pairs, rinks, and singles). (4) (James a day—3 of 21 bonds, 105; 2 0 f 25 beads, 286; 2 for 21 beads, nil. (5) —lmmediate past president—m favour 313, against principle 48. (G) Permanent secretary—ln iavotir 149. against 251. (7) Foot oft' mat— With few exceptions opinion favoured a. penalty. One hundred and fifty-six votes were given straight out for tbe penalty, being a caution for a first offence, and tor second and subsequent onos-(a) the howl to he declared “dead” and removed from the bead; (b) if tlie bowl l"ul disturbed, the bowls or jack, the ~,’oosiiig side to have the option of—(I) leaving the head as it is; (2) rephiciii"’ the bowls or jack; or (3) declaring tlie bead “dead.” Two hundred and twelve votes were recorded that there should be n penalty, but the centres could either not decide what tbe penalty should bo or suggested a different one from those set down, or considered it a rqafter tor tho Council to decide <
