A RATANA CURE.

REPORTED IN GREYAIOTJTH. THE CASE OF JAMES HESLIN. (Grey Argus). Great interest was aroused in Greymouth on Saturday by a report that :i case of blindness had been partly reined iod by the intervention of Ratana, the Maori faith healer. An “Argus” reporter investigated, and to some extent found the report to be substantiated. The case was that of Mr Carl lleslin, jmir., the 23 year-old son of Air Heslin, of Tainui Street. He is a native of Brunner, who removed sometime ago with his parents to Greymoutli. Since the ago of five years, lie lias heon totally blind, the cause of which is attributed to measles. He has been writing letters for a space of four months past, to Ratana, asking his intercession for the regaining of his sight. On Friday morning last, a reply from Ratana reached him and not long alter having it read to him, Mr Heslin noticed an improvement in his visual organs. The letter, as usual, with all U\tana’s, urged him to trust in God for his blindness to be remedied, and to pray. On Saturday Mr lleslin was surprised to find that he could distinguish daylight and detect not only shadows, but also the movements of people in front of him. Our reporter questioned him, and lie attributed the improvement in his eyes solely to Ratana. Holding out his iiaml, our reporter noted that Mr Heslin had no difficulty in grasping it iii omdc. There wns no niovomeiit about his action. The parents of the young man were greatly moved when their son reported the good effect of the Maori advocate’s intercession for aim. They were naturally affected by his intimation that lie could use his ■ eyes with effect, considering his Its years of blindness. The young man ox- : presses himself as confident now that! |,e will derive further benefit from Ha- j tana’s intercession and advice, and judging bv Katana’s other c-ases, he has '.rood reason for his .Katana’s) expectation. The results of intervention so lar go to show that be lias undoubtedly an extraordinary power which lie attributes to the Creator. Th» public will doubtless watch Mr Heslin’s case with great interest, trusting for a lull realisation of his hopes.
