POLLARD’S HCTURES. A GRAND DOUBLE BTLL - MONDAY On Monday Pollards are screening another of their popular double feature programmes. Norma Talmadge one ol the most popular on the screen to-day is starred in “The Branded Woman.” a big First national seven reel drama. The outstanding features of “Tim Branded Woman” are the personality and fine acting of Norma Talmadge. Her characterisation is one of contrasts she does remarkable work. As the guild css young girl, fresh from refined college training and clean environment she is as sweet as an orchard breeze. Thrust into the foetid atmosphere of the so-called smart set she tellingly depicts startled awakening of maturity, while ns the sweet, pure-minded wife carrying a secret sorrow which sh ( > dares not tell her husband, she is a revelation she is abnormal in her exceptional ability. Her performance lifts the picture right out of the commonplace into the class of perfect entertainment. The second big feature in Monday” s display star is “A Frail and His Money” starring Eugene O’Brien and Ruby do Rem or. Within the ~nld grim walls of a haunted castle the hero found a fair ghost behind an ancient suit- of armour—and he won the ghost for his wife. Take this plot of George Barr MoCutoheon’s popular story of love and adventure with its medieval settings, add the clever young actor, Eugene O’Brien and mix in sonic wonderful photography, and you have this latest Selznick picture. “A Fool and His Money.” Tt is one of the most artistic piotmrs of the year, and it stands ns a monument to the work of Robert Fllis. the director. Mr Fllis has cleVerlv 'uptilised a groat, castle that stands on a river’s hank its lofty tower its deep dark dungeon—its mysterious underground passages and a beautiful snowdad countryside.
