CRITICISM OF RIG CRICKET. |BY TELEORAI’II PER TRESS ASSOCIATION] LONDON, August 19. “Sporting life” days: “When (\ L Pry enters the arena to oppose the •riticisms of Armstrong, it is obvious hat all is not well with the inner cir•les of our Cricket Council. The mismderstandings which arose at the beginning of the Australian tour and the ■Selection Committee’s had management >f the English elevens demonstrate that die two countries need to get together core before another tour is undertaken ay either country.” Commenting on New Zealand’s action n breaking off of the negotiations, tfter learning of the weakness the nnateur M.C.C. team proposed to Ik* amt there on the, ground that the tour would not be likely to be a financial success “Sporting Life” says: “This may sound foreign to the ethics of the game, but, remembering M ary le! nine’s profits in Australia, the Now Zealand Council is justified in its attitude. The crux of the matter is the inability of our first class amateurs to make such a tour. If the M.C.C. had doubts on the point, it would have been better tc have declined the invitation than t< have attempted to raise a scratch side.”
