| BY TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] RAILWAY FIREMAN KILLED. ■OAMARU, Aug. IS Arthur Puttiek, a young man, fireman on Kurow-Oamaru train, was killed tliis morning. Just before arriving at Duntroon, the engine jumped the rails, owing to a stone on a level crossing. It partly overturned and Puttiek leaped off, hut was jammed hv the tender and died instantaneously.
N.S.W. AT GISBORNE GISBORNE, August 18. There is glorious weather for the New Soifth Wales football match. The Overseas footballers were accorded a civic reception in the forenoon. Speaking at the public reception to-day, Mr Bosward, manager of the N.K.W. team refuted adverse statements attributed to the Springboks regarding A'lntralian sportsmanship. He expressed sinprise that comments followed the Springboks departure from Australia, who claimed the hospitality and lined sporting spirit was displayed towards the South Africans.
A SKELETON FOUND. GISBORNE. August IS A Lion's discovered a skeleton in the bush near Maliiki railway station. Gisborne, northwards of the line. Only a pair of well worn hoots remain H'< other clothing having almost entirely perished. The skeleton affords no identification or bow the death occurred. The police are not aware of any person having been mussing in that vicinity.
