In the Supreme Court, members of the West Central Timber Syndicate sued Herbert (Iladsone Hill for £SOO, which they alleged lie had agreed to contribute. They also asked the Court to declare ho was a member of the syndicate. The defendant denied he was a member of the syndicate. Tt was stated in evidence that the syndicate was formed to float the Groat Western Timber Company to work forests at Okarito, hut it was ini possible to float the Company. The Court declared Hill a member of the syndicate, hut limited his liability to £SOO.
