\UST It A I.IAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. CONFERENCE REPORT. (Received This Day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 5. The Conference met to-day. Hon. Lloyd George presided. The report pointed out the Conlereiice comprised thirty-four plenary sittings besides eleven meetings limited to Prime Ministers and eight meetings ! the Colonial Office. Other parts though not secret, arc intermingled with confidential matter. Therefon only indications are given of the general ten*r. Mr Massey interviewed by the Australian Press Association said “1 gard the Conference ns being far and away the most important gathering of the representatives of the Empire that has ever been held.” LONDON, August 5. Mr Ma-ssev continued that a great deal of work' had been essential work which was usually dealt with by Cabinet rather than a conference. Apart from the Imperial War Cabinet, this conference was epoch-making. inasmuch as it marked the first occasion that representations of the Dominions have joined the Government of Empire as a whole. Very important matters bad been dealt with and momentous decisions arrived at, which will have a far reaching effect in the direction of Empire unit v. I am very strongly ot ontnicu that we have laid the foundation of a system which will in vein's to come, develop into a satisfactory form of government for the British Empire.
