THE FIRST TEST MATCH

RUSH FOE, SEATS. DUNEDIN, Aug. 1

There was a great rush this morning morning for the ten shilling sots,, numbering about ItXX), in the grandstand, for the New Zealand-Springhoks match next Saturday week. At 8 o’clock when the box plan opened the queue had extended into Moray Place, and more than half'of those, after waiting for hours, had to depart without even getting a glimpse of the plan. It was the night bird, not the early morning bird, that caught the pick of the seats, although all of them are in the centre block of the stand. Some people took up their stand as early as 8 o’clock last evening, wel provided with chairs, overcoats, and cushions for the cold hours of the night, and the frosty hours of the morning. They numbered about 1000, and with another fifty who got into position after daybreak, hooked all tho seats, six at n time, with the exception of one applicant, who went ( away satisfied of one seat. During t e parly hours of the morning those in waiting wore provided with refreshments and eatables by some considerato “ sports.” Some of the seats pur- ■’ chased have already changed hands at fancy prices. Evidently many of those 1 who stayed up all night had an eye to business. Those who hold on to thentickets till next week should draw a , handsome profit for their night’s vigil. I
