POSS NEWS.

(Our own Correspondent.) Private word was received in Ross notifying the death at Christchurch yesterday of Mr H. J. Wiekes the wellknown gawmiller. The late Mr Wiekes belonged to Greymouth but for the past few years resided in Ross as manager of the Totara Sawmill. Some two or three months ago he with his family removed to Christchurch where they intended to reside in the future. Mr Wiekes paid a visit to Ross some two or three weeks ago and then appeared to ho in the best of health. The deceased leaves a widow two sons and two daughters to whom the sympathy of their many friends will be extended.
