The heaviest withdrawals have been in tin 1 following districts:—- : Auckland £104,286 ‘ New Plymouth 21.069 Napier 15,699 Blenheim 1" h4O Wanganui, Nelson, Oamarn and Dunedin have relatively small excess of withdrawals over deposits, and all other districts have excesses of deposits, the principal instances licing:— Christchurch £121,088 Hamilton 143,949 Wellington 66,813 Tim am 44,140 Tlie amounts subscribed and asked f IM - by concerns issuing debentures total roughly 61.580,000. and applications are" still being received. There is no doubt that some money has been withdrawn from the Post Office Savings Bank for investment in these ventures, but the influence of this movement may not have been so great as might he supposed. On the other hand, there is still the fact to be taken into account that during the whole quarter ended June 30th last, the deposits were—£8.220,913. and the withdrawals £7.045,158.
