Hokitika Beautifying Association.
The monthly meeting of the Hokitika Beautifying Association was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening,
Hie Hon H. L. Michel being in the chair. The minutes were read and confirmed and the executive’s report was adopted. It was resolved that the idea of holding a bazaar at Christinas time he abandoned under present circumstances and that the offfer of the Ladies’ Literary Club to hold a sale of work early in December he gladly accepted. Messrs Evans, Irvine, Preston, David, son and Wild were elected to represent the Association on the Committee working up a sports’ meeting on September 10th.
The offer of Mrs Chesterman to organise a dance at Kanieri for the Association’s benefit was accepted with thanks. ft was decided to call for tenders for painting Cass Square fence as the specifications were ready. It was reported that pickets were being prela red for repairing the fence.
The Secretary was asked to make inquiries concerning the price of wire rubbish baskets for the squares. A small account was passed for payment and meeting roae.
