| GREEKS CLAIM VICTORY.
ATHENS, July 19.
The Greek newspapers declare that the Greek forces have scored a victory over the Turks stating that besides several thousand prisons, the Greeks captured an immense quantity of booty. They emphasise the political and strategical importance of Eutaliia, the fall of which is likely to lead to the speedy capture, of the main Turkish railway lines.
TURKS RETREATING
ATHENS, July 19,
Hie evacuation of Eskishehi by the Turks has begun. The King of Greece have captured four big guns. eleven machine guns, north-west of Kutahia. The Turks are now retreating along their whole front, wth the Greeks in pursuit.

FRANCE AND SILESIA
PAIRS, July 19/
Attacks were made upon Allied soldiers oil July 17 in Upper Silesia. This has proved the timeliness of Saturday’s French note to Germany, announcing the despatch of a French reinforcement to Upper Silesia. There is a report of alleged French ,and British rivalry. This is declared to be the clumsiest German attempt to split the Entente’s cordiale.
CANADIAN ELECTIONS

At the elections in the Province of Alberta, the Agrarian Party have seemed 37 seats, as against 16 supporters of the present Stewart Government elected.
Labour and the Independents have secured four seats each. Two women were elected. No Conservatives were elected. The leader of the new Government Las not vet been chosen.
DUTY ON SPIRITS
LONDON, July 19
The House of Commons adopted a new clause in the Finance Bill, moved by Sir R. Horne, exempting from duty imported spirits produced in the Empire tor purpose of making power or industrial methylated spirits. Some members pointed out the concession would help the motor industry md en courage the Dominions to produce motor spirit to compete with petrol.

He announced he received from tho Soviet 'Government a two million dollars order for 500 five ton tank cars. Work on them ha® been started, and will be completed by the end of November.
