Beauty of Usefulness. Beauty is the perfect adaptation of the means to the end, the shape to the use for which the tiling is designed. Ornament that is not intended to emphasise usefulness is not only unnecessary but also in bad taste. Nothing can' l,e vo 'llv beautiful that does not fulfil its puiq.ose ; whereas the humblest household utensil that is so made as to fit the need of the housewife is beautiful in itself.
