Advices from Athens state that the Greek troops are now advancing, without serious opposition, in the direction of Eskishahr and Kutakia. They have ocupied Afioukar and Aheshar.

At Kobe, the troops were called out to quell strikers. When the striking dockyard employees charged the police, a number were wounded, and their ringleaders were arrested.

Pember ReeVes, speaking at a. meeting of the National Bank of New Zealand, said he doubted whether the long history of commercial fluctuations had shown anything more rapid than tile sudden onslaught of financial and industrial difficulties now embarrassing the Dominions trade after a quarter century of unbroken prosperity.

The first Inter-university air race between Oxford and Cambridge, three machines aside, of similar type, preceded the aerial Derby at) Hendon, over a course of 120 miles. Cambiidge von all. The competitors were erstwhile pilots. . Seven Derby entrants out of nineteen scratched. Mars 1 with 450 horse power Napier Lion engine, piloted b> J. H. James, won in the fastest time for the 200 miles’ course and also won the first handicap prize. Lieut Lougton, Australian flying corps, piloting S.E. 5220 horse power, Wolhery Viper, won the secoii dhandieap prize and £IOO sterling.

PACIFIC PROBLEMS.
