ATTITUDE OF LEAGUE MAN- j AGEMENT. j [BY TELEGRAPH- —I*ER PRESS ASSOCIATION] - AUCKLAND, July 14. The question of girls taking part in football games under the jurisdiction of ■ Auckland Rugby Football League was discussed by tho League last evening. An application for the affiliation of the newly formed Darnell Ladies League Football Club was made. The Chairman (Mr J. Carlaw) said it had apparently been taken for granted that tiie girls would play a match on Saturday as a curtain raiser to tiie men’s game. The position was that some ol the League officials attended a meeting of the Parnell lady football ontliy-.-si lists by invitation, and supplied certain information to the meeting. Other supporters of the League game had encouraged the movement. The proposal was now officially before the Afanngement Committee of tho League for the first time. The published opinion of medical men on the subject rather 1 startled him and made it evident that ' the proposal required the utmost consideration. The League should be careful not to sanction anything likely to prejudice the .health or welfare of girls. Similar views were expressed by other speakers, and on the motion of the Chairman, it was resolved that the .application for affiliation b e deferred until the League had obtained medical advice on the subject. A committee was appointed to interview several doctors on the matter.
