Tlte installation of officers of the Rnbt Emmet Branch of the Hibernian Society took place at Hokitika on Friday evening last. There was an attendance of some 10 odd members, presided over by Pres. Bro. .J. Pickering. After all routine business had been transacted, the lodge adjourned for initiation and installation. Three new members were initiated. The installation ceremony was performed by P.P. Bro. W. Jones, assisted by Bros. 11. McKeown of Greymouth branch. The new officers are as follows:—President: Bro. P. Kortegast, Vice President: Bro. F. Groufsky; Secretary: Bro. J. P. Ward; Treasurer:
Bro. M. O’Connor; Warden: Bro. W. Neads; Guardian: Bro. Groufsky; Sick Visitors: Bros. P. Kidd and A. Dowling. Subsequently a. very pleasant social evening was spent. The usual toast to the outgoing and the newly elected officers and to the visitors were duly honored. Items were giycn hy Bros. T. Stopforth, E. Dale, 11. McKeown, IV. ■Stnpforth, F. Groufsky, J. Ward, !’. Kortegast, \V. Joyce, L. Stoplorth and L\ Curtnyne. The accompanists for tbe evening were Bro. \Y. L. Joyce and Miss C. Devanov.
