WASHINGTON, July 10. is announced that President Harding has approached Britain, France, Italy and Japan to ascertain whethotl cv are willing to participate in a con fc-rence on the subject of He limitation of armaments, to he held at Washington at a time mutually agreed upon. Tf the proposal is found acceptable a formal invitation to such a conference will be issued.

Th e text of the inquiry addressed to the Powers states:—“lt 'is manifest that the question of the limitation of armaments has a close relation to the Pacific and Far Eastern problems, anl the President suggests that the Powers specially interested should undertake in connection with this conference, the,consideration of all matters bearing on their solution, with a view of reaching a common understanding in respect to principles and policies in the Far East.” China is also being invited to participate in the discussion of the Far Eastern problems. AMERICAN HEAT WAVE. (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) NEW’ YORK, July 11.
