NEXT SATURDAY’S FIXTURES The fixtures for next Saturday are as follows, the postponed round going to the end of the fixture list:— SENIORS. Diggers v. Ross at Hokitika, at 3 p.in. Excelsiors v. Kiwis at Hokitika at 3 p.m. Kokatahi v. Rimu at Rimu at 3 p.m. Kumar a, a bye. JUNIORS. Excelsiors v. Kokatahi at Hokitika at 1.30 p.m. Ross v. Rimu at Rimu at 1.30 p.m. Kiwis, a bye. The now ground will be used on Saturday for one of the senior games, enabling the two games to be carried out at once. Players who hold representative jerseys are requested to return same to the secretary at once. N.S.W. BEAT COMBINED TEAM. SYDNEY. June 27. About 25.000 witnessed the League football match New South Wales versus the combined Queensland and New Zealand team on the Cricket Ground New South Wales forced the game, and n few minutes after the commencement Craig scored an unconverted try. Shortly afterwards Brown was injured i and was replaced hy Gorman. The home team continued forceful tactics. Vest and Peters scoring in quick succession. and Burge converting. Gray was injured and was replaced by L. Burge. With New South Wales leading by 13 to nil the combined team bean to show more dash and a passing rash by Davidson. Laing, and Avery, ended in the latter scoring, and Davidson converting. The scores now mount !ed quickly. X T est and Thompson (N.S. SPRINGBOKS WIN AGAIN. SYDNEY, June 27. Hie weather was ideal for tlio second contest between the Springboks and New South Wales. Tho attendance was fifteen thousand. McKay and Raymond replaced Fox and Lane in the New South Wales side. The Springboks’, team was as follows: Do Villiers, Van (leerden, Harry Merkel, Clarkson, Meyer, P. Michan. Do Kock, Kruger, Van Rooyen, J. iehaii. Blesses, Wackcr. Soholtz. Rieiiiiar and Olivier. The Blues delved into aggressive movemenis with considerably moie confidence than previously. The Springboks. with half their team changed, encountered stiff opposition and tackling, which effectively blocked the initiaiivo of tho visitors. New South Wales drew first blood, do Villiers misjudging the flight of the hall, and Holdsworth, following up fast scored a try, which was not converted. Tho Springboks retrieved the position, as a result of Morkcl hustling past several taeklcrs and scoring. Do Villiers converted the try. Prior to the interval a rush was started from a line-out in the Springboks’ territory. Carr sprinted across and scored. Nothing converted, making the half time scores: New South AVales 8. Springboka 5. The Greens, with their backs to the wall, were unable to open up the play for a period hut ulfimnt&y they dominated the game, fill Morkcl equalised with an unconverted try.
The game then resolved itself into a stalemate for a time, till Van TTeerden hustled Carr, who transferred to. Noth ling. The latter failed to throw it out of touch, and Meyer, swooping down, got th,. hall inches from the line. ~o goal resulted. Springboks H. New Sooth Wales 8. A fine dodgy run by Mingny. supplemented hy a strong sprint by Raymond, turned tho tables and Davis picking up near the line, got a try. which was not converted. Hie final scores were: Springboks 10. New South Wales 11.
