Westland Licensing Committee.
MONDAY, JUNE 13th
The adjourned business of the above Committee took place yesterday at the Greymouth Courthouse at 2 o’clock. Present—Messrs G. AV. Bundle S.M. (Chairman), F. McGregor, C. J. Nightingale, F. *Kilgour, and H. Bignell.
The Committee decided not to insist on the hot and cold water service, but left it to the Public Health Department to take steps if it was found necessary. This applied to all hotels within the borough of Greymouth. At the close of the business the Chairman said the Committee wished to bring under notice of the Health Department that their inquisitions in . every case were a matter for them to decide. The licensees and owners ; should be served with a report of their requisitions and the Licensing Committee should not he railed upon to j deal with their requirements. The matter was for the Public Health Department and the Committee should not he : used to make their sanitary nrrange--1 ments effective. There were far too ! mans requisitions, and ;f the Health Department wishes their views to he decided upon by the Committee they should bring these requirements before the Committee earlier, and then obtain a statement of the views, of the Committee. The requisition of the Health Department were put in far too late to be dealt with at the annual meeting, and should always he put into the hands of licensees and owners in j March so as to give them a chance of giving effect to their requiicments before the annual meeting in June. ! Alacßae, the Criterion Hotel, Greymouth. Thomas J. Furlong, the Recreation Hotel, Greymouth. Deborah J. Rathbon, the Imperial Hotel, Greymouth. Geo. E. Simeon, the Club Hotel, Greymouth. Thomas O’Brien, the Caledonian Hotel, Greymouth. Janies I). AVingliain, the Albion Hotel, Greymouth. Annie Afclntyre, Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, Greymouth. F. Milne, the Australasian Hotel, Greymouth. Edward Al. Quinn, the Oriental Hotel Greymouth. This concluded the business and the meeting terminated at 4.30 p.m.
