ANITA STEWART IN “THE YELLOW TYPHOON,” TO-NIGHT.
To- night that popular screen artist, Anita Stewart, will lie featured in a specially good First National drama taken from Harold McGrath’s greatest adventure story “The Yellow Typhoon. Anita Stewart again demonstrates her claim to the title of star in the bizaire story of romance and adventure, “The Yellow Typhoon,” that was Harold McGrath’s most spectacular success of 1920 fiction. Replete with action and intrigue, the production is worthily excellent, and reveals marked craftmansliip on the part of the director. Its effects are colourful and vivid, and tho scene of action shifts from America to England, to the Orient and the Philippines, with a scrupulous _ regard for atmospheric detail and incident that increase the interest. Lavishness of production marks every scone, and any one desirous of having a good tm-rll will not bo disappointed in this First National attraction. AVitli the Australian Navy and the latest Patlie Gazette completes tho programme. On Wednesday next Irene Castle as the girl in “The Girl from Bohemia,” Mrs Vernon Castle is the life and soul of the picture. Her magnetic personality, her wonderful gowns, the ardour and dramatic fervour witli which she presents the character of the Bohemian girl, make her performance one that stands out alone for sheer merit. The picture paints a new and interesting phase of life in the artists’ quarter, with their cults, mannerisms, their joys, and sorrows, the very latest in the arts and dresses, and is as convincing and realistic as anything that has been produced.
