Hail Caledonia.

Last evening the Drill Shed looked magnificent, gaily bedecked with flags and bunting. The Union Jack held the prominent position with the Rampant Lion as ally. The occasion of such a display was that the West Coast Caledonian Society was entertaining the members of the Grey Society at an Ingleside. By special train, 57 Grey j Caledonians, under Chief McKenzie, arrived and headed by the Hokitika Killies Hand and Chief Davidson, the | procession marched to the Drill Hall. , The Ingleside began with the Grand i .March headed by Pipers Davidson and King. During the evening the following gave items:—Miss Davidson, Alcsdnnics Rowe and Watson (songs); a recitation, by Georgie Cullen; dances !bv M. Robb (Greyinouth), A. AlcTni tosh, M. Gibbons, M.. King, and Les j Gibbons. .Misses A. Mclntosh and M. ; Gibbons gave the Baggy Breeches clog, which was well received. Chief Davidson in a speech fitting for the occasion, remarked that their flag was the Scottish Standard, but the flag under which we live was the Union Jack, the Standard of the British Emi pirc. Chief .McKenzie replied that flic , two flags were as one, tin? “Rampant Lion” a true subservient ally to the “Jack.” Dancing was kept up till an early hour. The Grey Caledonians returned to the station headed as before. As the train left at 12.15 hearty cheers were given for each party.
