TRAGIC HAPPENINGS
LONDON, May 30
There was a tragic week end in Dublin. Rifle and bomb lighting resulted in fourteen dead, including five Crown forces, and Pleven wounded auxiliaries. The latter extensively searched*, the centre of the city and made several arrests. Disorder "as resumed this morning. Military vehicles were attacked with bombs and rifle fire and tramcars were riddled. The military replied with machine guns. , CONST ARTE SENTENCED. LONDON, May 31. Mitchell, a constable in the Irish Constabulary charged with robbing and killing Mr Dixon, an 'lrish Justice of Peace at Dunbavin in February was found guilty and sentenced to death. Another constable who was implicated committed suicide

LONDON May 30. In the House of Commons, Mr Lloyd George said: —lt was proposed to strengthen the Crown Frees in Ireland. A further statement would be made in Parliament when the arrangements for this were completed. It was not intended to send any of the reservists to Ireland.
