AMUSEMENTS

POLLARD'S riCTURES.

AN ALL BRITISH PICTURE TO-NIGHT.

To-night one of the most picturesque plays seen for some time is the Harma production “Big Money,” starring James Knight and Rose Manners. Adapted from a well known novel, “A Run for his Money,” the story is bright and interesting, having many new twists that add to its attractiveness. The scenes and settings are all that can he desired, being of that quality that only old England can produce, some of the scenes of Ireland being remarkably beautiful. James Knight has a role on the lines of the Fairbanks parts, and bids fair to prove as popular as the American. His breezy manner, and cheery smile are contagious. The picture has all that is required to recommend it to any audience in plot, thrill, and real entertainment value, and it also has what can never lie imitated successfully in American productions, the real thing in beautiful settings of English and Irish country homes and atmosphere. Taken from a popular novel “A Run for bis Money” it lives up the title in every moment of its five enthralling reels. Not a dull moment is seen throughout in the three months chase by the police after the young man suspected of the murder of his rich uncle. As a matter of fact, the uncle isn’t dead at all, and the nephew knows all about it, and is simply keeping the trail freshly scented to earn £20,000 his uncle will pay him when be turns up again. No one will regret “Big Money”—it is all-satisfy-ing.

On Monday next Alice Joyce will be the star in a big Drury Lane racing drama entitled. “The Sporting Duchess.”
