Myokura (Chairman of the Japanese Naval Commission) has announced that a contract has been awarded to the New York Shipbuilding Corporation for a 20,000 ton electrically driven combination fuel supply ship. This is the first contract given to the United States for 25 years by Japan. The ship will measure 490 feet on the water line, with 07 feet beam, and will be of 7500 horse power, giving a speed of 15 knots.

RAILWAY WAGE REDUCTIONS. NEW YORK, May 18. The United States Railroad Labour Board at Chicago has decided that tho prevailing conditions justify to an extent yet to l>e determined, the downward readjustment of the wages.of the carriers and other employees. This decision affects scores of railways, who were making an appeal prior to April 18th, and it was handed down a few hours after tho conclusion of the hearing. Tho decision was not expected for several weeks, and it took the employers and employees by surprise.
