Brookes was playing with fearless brilliant drives and Oldfield massed stumping him, the ball going for four byes, but the wicket keeper redeemed his mistake shortly after. Collins bowled eight overs for five runs. Then Dickerson drove him to the boundary twice. The eighth wicket went down when the score was 178. The second century was reached after plnyingg for three hours. Fowler and Archdale provided sparkling batting Fowler contributed fiftv out of eighty-six, made in seventy five minutes, with splendid, crisp off strokes The innings was declared at 5.40 p.m. The twenty minutes remainng til! stumps were drawn sufficed to account fon one Australian wicket, Brooke smartly stumping Collins 1 for 1. Armstrong hurt his leg through a fall while hatting on Saturday and Ryder filled his place. The attendance was six thousand.
