IRISH ELECTIONS. LONDON, May -14. May MeSweenev, sister of the exLord Mayor of Cork was elected.
A surprise feature at Belfast was lbs nomination of an independent for each of the four divisons, where Nationalists and Sinn Feiners were co-operating against Unionists. SOUTH PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS. LONDON, May 13 Nominations are in for the Southern Irish Parliament. They have resulted in the return of Sinn Fein candidates unopposed throughout Ireland. There are some persons concerned that the Nationalists did not nominate any candidates. The Unionists are in a hopeless minority. BOMB THROWN IN DUBLIN. LONDON, May 13 A bomb was thrown into a police lorry in Grafton Street in Dublin. Some 15 civilians including a number of women and boys were badly injured by the explosion, owing to the crowd in the thoroughfare. The police, in view of the crowd refrained from firing. SINN FEIN’S SWEEPING VICTORY. LONDON, May 14 The “Times” correspondent at Dublin states that the Irish Parliament election have been held and have passed off without any disturbance resulting. The result, he says, is a sweeping Sinn Fein victory. Practically the whole of the existing Dajl Eireann (Sinn Fein Parliament) have been elected lo the new Parliament. Sinn Fein have secured the unopposed return of 120 out of the 128 numbers of the Southern Parliament.
The correspondent adds that the nominations for the Irish National University have been fixed for May 14, when fount Sinn Feiners are certain to he returned for the four seats.
ULSTER ELECTIONS. LONDON, May 14 Tlie “Times” Belfast correspondent states: —The Unionist Party anticipates to have a working majority of from 12 to 16 over all combinations at the Ulster elections. The Ulster elections are fixed for May 26. There will, however, be contests in all the Ulster Divisions. LONDON, May 14. The nominations for the Northern Ulster Parliament include 62 Unionists, 40 Sinn Feiners, 19 Nationalists and five Labourites. Mr De Valera will be an opponent of Sir .1. Craig (Ulster Leader) in County Down. In the nominations for the Southern Parliament, Dublin University returned four Unionists unopposed. LONDON, May 14 The candidates elected for the Southern Ireland Parliament include the following Sinn Fein leaders : Mr Eamonn de Valera, General Mcllael Collins, Mrs O’Callaghan, the wife of the late murdered Mayor of Limerick, Countess Markievitch, Mr Arthur Griffiths (Sinn Fein Vice-Presi-dent). The last two members are still imprisoned.
