A SENSATIONAL RIDE

ON A HARLEY DAVIDSON CYCLE,

One of the most daring,, oxciting and sensational rides over contemplated by N. Souter on his Sport Model HarleyDavidson on March 16th. On arrival at Rangitoto this fearless young rider imediately set off to accomplish what appeared an almost impossible task. For .the fiarst quarter of a mile the track was easily negotiable, there being only a few boulders and rough scoeia which experience had taught this young rider to overcome without diffi-' cirity: From there on, right up to the summit, there were many difficulties which he had to contend with. Moving his sturdy mount at a fair speed he had to face a rough, rocky drop of twelve or eighteen- inches over which were it not for the wonderful reliability and dependability of his Harley Sport, might have ended disastrously. Then on again round sharp turns, over boulders, through loose, heavy soil, his mount pushed on, until again over a knoll with a grade of approximately one in two which seemed incredible for any motor-cycle to negotiate, this wonderful little motor (galled up through the loose scoria with great ease. The excitement, at this particular spot, to the onlookers, was intense, and it was a great relief when rider and machine had overcome this difficulty. Again round sharp turns, over more loose scoria and boulders, with a final spurt up the last pinch, a grade of approximately one in two, the summit was reached. The test of the Harley-Dnvidson again adds laurels to those already won up Mt Eden Crater and the Raid Spur, Te Arolia. Wo are very fortunate in having E. C. Toohey as our local agent for this machine.
