Some rebels attacked a force of mfli» tary and police between Cavan and BaL lieborough. After hours’ fighting the rebels were dislodged. They left one killed. Nine of them werf captured. Only one soldier yraa wounded. It is believed the shooting at the Police Inspector Ferris, in Belfast Is likely to prejudice the peace moves, as the Ulster loyalists will no? hold any further conference with Sinn Fein.
FURTHER OUTRAGES. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 9. Ex-Constable Scanlon and John McGawley, sub-Postmaster, were riddled with bullets fatally at Kilkoosky. Armed men in Dublin held up the staff of Camden Street branch of the National Bank to-day and took several thousand pounds worth of notes, silver and coppers; also the manager’s watch and chain.
