Jackson was elected President of the Marylebone Cricket Club. The M.C.C. has ndopted a resolution that the practice of players in reporting for the press on matches in which they participate is not on the host interests of the game. The Prince of Wales will attend tli» Oval match on Saturday. Acting on medical advice, Hearno will not play for a few weeks, and probably will not be available for the first Test. Oldfield is rapidly recovering, as no bones are broken. He will he able to play in a fortnight. AUSTRALIA V. ROBINSON’S XI UNITED SERVICE TELEGRAMS. Gibson then resumed bowling. Jupp missed Hendry off him before lie had scored, hut made amends by witching Carter in tlie following over. 8 for 127. McDonald and Mailey met with disaster trying to play Douglas’ humping deliveries. Armstrong played a solid watchful game. He was in for 91 minutes and hit nine fours. There was further rain during the night, hut the morning was first bright and then cloudy. TJic wicket was slow. Bnrdslev was suffering from a split finger in each hand. Gibson nnd Douglas resumed the attack. Bnrdslev was out in the second over, while taking a splendid catch at midon. The howlers were making the most of the wicket, Gibson maintaining a good length and turning both ways, while Douglas was rising outwardly and keeping the batsmen playing. Tlie fielding was keen and scoring slow, the first fifty taking an hour. The first wicket fell at 28-, the second at 39, and the third at 53. Taylor and Armstrong became partners and playing steadily had brought the score by luncheon adjournment to 103. Meantime White and Jupp had a turn at the bowling. Off the latter’s first over Armstrong liit four fours.
Robinson’s team at the drawing of stumps bad lost one wicket for 156.

Hobbs and Knight faced the bowling of Gregory and McDonald. Knight succumbed to the latter’s first ball when the score was eight. The Victorians deliveries were rearing shoulder high. At 21 Macartney replaced Gregory. McDonald hit Hobbs on the ribs and forearm, delaying play. Mailej took McDonald’s place, but both batsmen punished him severely and the century appeared in eighty minutes. Mniley missed a hard return from Jupt> when the latter was 32. McDonald then replaced him. Hobbs when the total had reached 125 retired, having strained himself running a single. He played an enterprising, versatile innings without I a chance. Jupp’s hatting was mostly slendy and unaggressive. The fielding was keen. A drizzling rain recommenced in the afternoon and stumps were drawn, at 4.30. ROBINSON’S XI Ist INNINGS. Instead of the Australians fixture at Birmingham, being versus Midland Counties, the Warwickshire Committee intends to choose a side from all parts of the country, which it is hoped will lie as strong an eleven as England can gather.
