WESTLAND SUB-UNION. The weekly meeting of sub-union, was held on Thursday evening. Mr D. Dowell presided in the absence of the chairman. Present—A. Cutbnsh, T. Gillooly, A. and H. Seebeck, J. J. Breeze, G. Maunder, R. Moore, A. Dowell, J. Hagar, and E. W. Heenan (lion. sec.). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and outward correspondence was read and approved. Inward correspondence read and received. The President (F. McGregor) here took the chair. The transfer of E. Breeze from Excelsiors to Diggers was granted M. Bethune’s transfer from Excelsiors to Kiwis was withdrawn. On the recommendation of the Referees Association it was resolved to procure six dozen rule books and distribute them amongst the clubs. Mr E. W. Heenan, on behalf of Kokatahi club applied for the i classification of the following senior players to junior grade—B. Haussmann, F. Shrives, G. Woolhouse, W. O’Brien. These four were granted. Also to have all senior matches start in Kokatahi at 2 o’clock. The Union could not see its way clear to grant this request but would recommend all teams journeying to Kokatahi to start as early as possible. Acknowledgment of the disqualification of Ross players being removed was received from W.C.R.U. Air A. Cutbnsh, submitted the Referees’ Association report as follows-: — Kiwis v. Excelsiors, M. Houston; Pirates v. Kokatahi, W. Wilson; Ross v. Diggers, J. T. Irvine. The report was adopted and approved. Saturday gate receipts amounted to £6 8s 6d. 'l’he following junior teams nominated for tne competition—Ttimu, Kokatahi, Kiwis, Excelsiors. Mr E. W. Heenan moved that the fixtures be drawn immediately, and that the competition open on May •: >• • - junior games to take place at 1.30 Seconded by J. .J. Breeze and canned. Affiliation fee to be 2/6. Mr Sara tv has decided that his clip be presented to the winners of a seven-a-side tournament to be held m Kumara. It was resolved that meetings in future being postponed would have to be notified at least a week before. It was resolved to ask St. John's Ambulance Brigade to attend the matches in case of accidents ; also that the Union would do all in its power to assist injured players. Line umpilres for Saturday. Mr Breeze asked for permission to allow U. Hughes to lie Excelsior touch judge. Seconded by D. It. Dowell. It. Moore moved an amendment that he be nob appointed. Seconded by T. Gillooly. A vote being taken resulted five for five against. The chairman gave his casting vote in tavour ot the amendment. It was resolved to allow referees to appoint touch judges. It was resolved also to erect a wire fence on the other side of the playing field. There was no further business and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. REFEREES ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of Referees meeting was held on Thursday evening. There were present M. Houston (chair) T. Gillooly, A. Cutbnsh, D. R. Dowell E. W. Heenan (Sec.) The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. A good deal of correspondence was received from New Zealand Rugby Referees Association. The Secretary was instructed to reply thereto. W. Wilson, and J. T. Irvine were elected members of the. Association. Referees were appointed as follows: Kiwis v. 'Excelsiors, M. Houston; Diggers v. Ross, Air Irvine; Rinui v. Kokatahi, Air W. AA r ilson. There being no further business, the meeting closed with a vote of thunks to the chair.
