Fifty Sinn Feiners ambushed a cycle patrol comprising fourteen Irish constabulary,’ in the heart of Galway Highlandc. The fight lasted eight hours. A constable was killed and two othcis seiiously wounded before the Crown forces arrived and forced the Republicans to scatter.
