The many friends of Mr and Mrs j [leorge Knapp, of Threadneedle Street, , Greymouth, will regret to learn that their youngest son, Edmond, had the misfortune to fracture his leg above the j knee whilst playing in his parents’ yard. The little chap is only four years of age. The death of a well-known Ahstura resident, Mr Tlios H. Garth, took place yesterday at the age of 82 years. He had conducted a store for over half a century at Ahaura, and spent 55 years on the Coast, and after having previously been a sailor, engaged in mining for a while. Deceased was a man of quiet, gonial manner, and was popular throughout the. district, with which he was identified so long as to have become a figure that all will now miss.
