ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. a little Better market. (By Teiagraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. Beef—A .smaller yarding than last week, and the market was slightly better all round, especially for best quality. Best steers £1 fo £l9/5/-; prime £l4 to £l6/10/-, medium £9/10/- to £l3/10/-, others £5/5/- to £9/5/-; best heifers £lO/1.5/- to £l2/2/6, prime £8 to £lO/10/-; others £5/5/ to £7/15/-, cows £4 to £9/12/6.
.Mutton—Another large yarding, comprising some of outstanding quality. The market was generally slightly firmer and freezing buyers were operating throughout. Best wethers 20/6, to 23/6, afw extra good to 25/3; prime 16/- to 19/6 ; others 11/6 to 15/6. Ewes were in the same proportion. Lambs were firmer all round and sold on a basis of 6d.
Store cattle—A larger entry than last week, but mostly nondescript lots and the enquiry was dull hut ho quotable change in prices.
Store sheep—The yarding was not so big as last week but was comprised principally of ewes. The market genetally was easier all round and little animation, but practically all were cleared at auction. Vendors were evidently prepared to accept the prices offering. Best s.m. ewes to 12/-, others 8/- to 11/tw o tooth ewes 12/6 to 16/-; others from 8/9 up, best wethers 11/- to 13/-; others 7 J- upwards. Best lambs 9/- to 11/8, medium 4/- to 6/6; others 1/6 and upwards.
