At the trial of Mrs Molt, the Crown Prosecutor said that Airs Mort s letters and actions showed she was strangely neurotic and passionate. She allowed her friendship to develop into a passionate love. Possibly Dr Tozer s distinction at the war and as a cricketer were in part the charms exercising this influence over her. Then when informed Dr. Tozer intended to marry, she came to the decision that il she could not have him, no other woman wouid. Doctors gave it its their opinion that tit the time of the tragedy and subsequently the accused was emotionally insane. Under examination tit the 1 ospital, she made remarkable rambling statements. Amongst others, she expressed elation at the crime. AlllS AIORT FOUND INSANE. (Received this day at 8 a.ni.) SYDNEY, April 9. At the Alort trial further evidence of accused’s alleged insanity was submitted by a moving picture producer who gave Airs Alort a part in a picture. He said the first time she came to act she was not rational. She spoke of two men who had followed her and wanted to kill .her and added that they were sitting on a seat in the room, though the seat was empty. She also spoke of suiciding. The jury returned a verdict of guilty whilst of unsound mind. The Chief Justice directed that this he changed to not guilty, on the ground of insanity. This was done, and the Chief Justice ordered Airs Alort’s removal to the penitenary, until the Governor’s pleasure was known.
A DOUBLE TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, April 9. A double shooting occurred at Redtorn. .Gladys Merril was shot dead by Allen Lloyd, to whom she had previously been engaged. Lloyd then shot himself dead. It appears that Merril broke the engagement, and Lloyd went to the house early in the morning and committed the shooting. WHEAT POOL. MELBOURNE, April !) Air Hughes has promised that Cabinet would consider a proposal by a deputation of representative farmers throughout the Commonwealth that the wheat pool be continued next year and that Government advance 50 per cent of the value of the wheat. ,
