VICE-REGAL Visit to HOKITIKA
Tlie Governor-General, Admiral V iscoimt Jellicoe, will pay an official visit to the district to-morrow, arriving at II o’clock in the forenoon. .Members of local bodies will meet the vice-regal party (which will include body Jellicoe and Hon Lucy Jellicoe) at Kaihinu. Cars will depart from the Clock Tower at 10 a.m. to-morrow, and return with the party. The public reception will take place on Keller’s hotel balcony in the presence of the assemblage. The children will be marshalled by their teachers, and the military will provide a guard of honour. These should he in their positions not later than 10.45 o’clock.
On arrival, and after inspection of the Guard of Honour, a public address will be presented oil behalf of the local bodies. This will be read by -Mr Andrewes, Town Clerk. His Excellency will reply in a public address. At noon a public luncheon will take place at the Supreme Hall. The toast list will be a limited one, but will include opportunity for an address I rom Lord Jellicoe. The toast of “His Majesty” will be proposed by the Mayor (Mr Perry) and that of the GovernorGeneral” by the County Chairman (Mr Murdoch). Hon H. L. Michel, M.L.C., will propose ‘.‘The Ladies,” and Mr T. E. A'. Seddon, M.P., "ill respond. At the conclusion of the luncheon the Automobile Association will piovide cars for a visit to Lake Kanieri, travelling via Rimu Elat on the outward journey. As much time as possible will be spent on the lake, and afternoon tea will be served at Parkinson’s hotel. In the evening the Returned Soldiers’ Association will have the honoi of entertaining the Governor General and Lady Jellicoe with Hon Lucy Jellicoe at a soci.-i! dance at the Drill Hall, commencing at S o’clock. Very complete arrangements are being made for this function which should prove a most enjoyable one. On Sunday the Governor General’s partv will attend divine service in the morning, and in the afternoon "ill be taken for a drive, including probably a pm into South Westland. Early on Monday morning the viceregal guests leave for Otira and Christchurch.
