WESTLAND SUB-UNION
The meeting of the sub-union was held on Monday evening The following delegates were present—Alessrs F. McGregor, A. Lawn. A. Dowell, R. Moore, D. R. Dowell, T. Gillooly, I. Willoughby, J. Hagar, H. Seebeek, G. Maunder, J. J. Breeze; also referees delegate (H. Harker), and E. W. Heennn (Secretary). Mr F. McGregor was voted to the chair.
The inward correspondence was read and received and outward correspondence read and approved.
The delegates proceeded to form the sub-union. Air Dowell moved that the officers of the Union he elected from the delegates, excepting the President and viee-Presidents. Seconded by J. JBreeze.
Tliis motion caused considerable discussion.
Air Harker moved an amendment which was withdrawn by consent.
The Chairman asked Mr Lawn to fill the chair as he was called away to attend another meeting.
Nominations were called for the (ice of President, and Messrs I‘. Ale Gregor and A. Luvn were nominated
A vote was taken the result being five votes each.
It was moved to put both names in the hat and draw out one. the one drawn out to be the President. Mr A. Lawn declined this action as he did not think it was fair to the Club which had asked him to be nominated.
Mr I). Dowell questioned the right of Air Marker to vote oil this matter, as the sub-Union was not yet formed, and the meeting was called for delegates of the clubs only. Therefore the club’s delegates only had the right to vote. Mr II agar challenged the Secretary’s right to vote. Considerable discussion ensued oil this point, and then Alessrs A. Lawn and G. Alaunder left the meeting and decided to take no furt.ter part.
The delegates present then elected Air Breeze to the chair and called Iresli nominations for President, Air AlcGrego r being elected unopposed.
There were live nominations for vice Presidents and as two wen l required a vote was taken. Alessrs J. .1. Alelntosh and AIB. Keenan being elected. The list of other officers was published yesterday.
The officers of the sub-union resolved to allow the Referees Association tin right to a delegate on the sub-union. The meeting night of the sub-union will be every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Afelntosh’s Club rooms. The fixtures will be drawn next Alonday evening, and all teams must be ready to take the field on Saturday week. Alarists from Grey will meet the local combined team on the Square on Saturday at. 3 p.m.. All At. Houston referee. The selectors for this year will he Alessrs AT Houston, T. Giloolv, and AI. Keenan.
Owing to rumours that Ross would be unable to provide a team the Secretary was instructed to write and find out if there was any truth in this statement before the fixtures were drawn. This concluded the business and the meeting then terminatd.
