SHIPPING PROFITS. SI'YA, April 3. The first annual meeting of the Burns Philip’s South Sea Company, IJd., was held at its head office in Suva to-day. The first report and balance sheet, which "ere adopted showed a net profit of C 102,843. A dividend of ten per cent on the paid up capital of £730.000 was approved and the balance carried to the reserve. The report shows the company has become strongly established throughout the Pacific. LABOUR DEMANDS. SYDNEY, April 5. The Australian Labour Party’s Conference to-day decided that the Intel Statei Executives should prosecute a campaign for favour of a world-wide campaign for world disarmament h\ getting into touch with all the Pacifist groups in other countries, in order to devise common action for the total abolition of all military preparations. The Labour Conference also resolved that the Chief Secretary be directed immediately to appoint a number of women justices of the peace.
