It is very satisfactory to learn that the Hokitika School Committee* has the school war memorial so earnestly at heart, and is Kent on fulfilling a solemn duty thoroughy. We hare just referred to the loyal spirit. Tt was this spirit of duty, honor and patriotism, culminating ill sacrifice itself, which it is
desirable to typify in these rather careless days, so that one and all who pass by the memorials will be reminded ol sonietJiillß which true citizenship engenders and will cultivate' t.ie right sp"i< accordingly. We feel sure the exscholars of the loyal school will be proud of the opportunity of associating themselves with the movement the Committee lias in hand. Now that the holidays arc past, the way .is open for an active campaign to raise the funds required and so do honour to those old boys of the school, who when their country called, responded freely and took their place in the ranks in the great task so suddenly thrust upon them.
