The second race took place to-day, when the Iron Duke, which was sailed by Lord Jellicoe, beat the Heather hy oOsecs. AVELTJNGTON MAYOR ALTA’. WELLINGTON, March 25. The possible splitting of votes in connection with the mayoral election where Mr Hickey, Labour, and several other candidates are in the field, is exercising the minds of local associations. Several meetings have been held. Three candidates. Alessrs Weston. Wright and Norwood attended, Alessrs M’Konzie and Hislop declining the invitation. It was decided that Alessrs AVeston and Norwood should withdraw and give their support to Air AA'right, who declares he will contest the seat against all comers. Air Lon Al’Kenzie makes a similar announcement. AA'itli Ah' Tlislop also in the field, the position is interesting.
