One of tlin most* dangerous hills in Wellington, district, Paekaka.riki Hill, was the scene of a motoring accident late yesterday afternoon, which resulted in the death of Harry On trad, a draper, residing at Hataitai, Wellington, and severe injuries to his wile, Lilian Outlaid. aged 26, and son Jack, aged .10, who was injured less severely. Ontrad with his wife and son, were motoring homo from Hawera and when coming down the steep grade on Paekakariki Hill, their car left the road and dashed down tlu 1 bank. The car was overturned, the three occupants being thrown out with terrific force. Assistance was soon forthcoming and it was obvious Outrad’s condition was critical, oe being quite unconscious and having his head and face badly cut about, and the right arm broken. The sufferers were conveyed to Paekakariki railway station where they were transferred to the New Plymouth express. On arriving in town they were hurried to the hospital by motor ambulance and an operation was performed on Outlaid, but he never regained consciousness, dying at 12.16 this morning. His wife was found to be suffering from injuries to the head, and right leg. The boy, Jack, was cut on the head. The latter two are not in a critical condition, and early this morning were doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances.
